Classical Nerd began in 2016 to provide accessible, entertaining music education on YouTube. Since then, the channel has grown in scope, scale, and production value to nearly 300 episodes, over 68,000 subscribers, and over 4.6 million cumulative views.
My work as an “evangelist for music” has a substantial following among educators across all age ranges around the world, from primary schools to universities to theological seminaries to OLLI.
The channel’s content is directed by viewer requests, and funded via Patreon. Throughout the 2023–24 academic year, a series of episodes documenting the evolution of American music were funded by a Public Humanities Grant from Humanities NY.
